Understanding Recreational Programs

When it comes to enjoying your free time, I have never been an expert. I have always found it hard to keep up with different ways to enjoy my time away from work, but about a year ago I realized that there were a lot of resources close to home that I could take advantage of. It was incredible to see how much my local recreation center offered, along with how many motor sports businesses were in close proximity to my home. This blog is all about understanding recreational programs, signing up for the best ones, and saving a lot of time and money along the way.

Tips For Selecting The Best Boat Seats For Your Fishing Boat

If you took your new-to-you boat out fishing for the first time this summer and discovered that its seats are really uncomfortable, then you will be pleased to learn there are many other options available. Boat seats are sold in a wide variety of different styles, sizes, and materials to meet every boater's needs. To help you shop for your new boat seats, here are some tips:

Tip: Choose the Right Style of Boat Seat

Since boat seats come in a variety of different styles, it is helpful if you decide what type of seat you want before shopping. Some of the most popular options include:

  • fold-down seats
  • boating chairs
  • bucket sports seats

As their name implies, fold-down boating seats have backs that collapse down and free up room on your boat. These are good for boats where space is at a premium. Chair seats are similar to fold-down seats but are stationary and don't have backs that fold down. These seats are appropriate for larger boats with more room. Finally, bucket sports seats are also stationary seats, but they have a lot of soft stuffing and nicer upholstery like car seats.

Tip: Know the Difference Between Metal and Plastic Framed Seats

Boat seats are sold with two different types of frames:

  • plastic frames
  • aluminum frames

Boating seats with plastic frames are generally less expensive than those with aluminum metal frames. However, aluminum frames will stand up better to the weather and wet conditions found on boats. If you plan to own your boat for a long time, then you should opt for aluminum framed seats.

Tip: Select Swivel Seats if You do a Lot of Fishing

If you do a lot of fishing from your boat, then seats that are mounted on swivels will give you the biggest range of motion while reeling in your fish. While this may not be a big issue if you fish for smaller species of fish like trout, it is a much larger issue if you sport fish for bass and larger fish species.

Tip: Buy Boat Seats with UV Protective Upholstery

Finally, most boating seats are upholstered in vinyl because it holds up well when it gets wet. However, not all vinyl is the same. Inexpensive vinyl that does not filter out the sun's ultraviolet waves will crack. For this reason, you should ensure that your boat's new seats are upholstered with UV protective vinyl.
