Understanding Recreational Programs

When it comes to enjoying your free time, I have never been an expert. I have always found it hard to keep up with different ways to enjoy my time away from work, but about a year ago I realized that there were a lot of resources close to home that I could take advantage of. It was incredible to see how much my local recreation center offered, along with how many motor sports businesses were in close proximity to my home. This blog is all about understanding recreational programs, signing up for the best ones, and saving a lot of time and money along the way.

Tips For Keeping Your Handgun Concealed In A Public Restroom

When you carry a concealed weapon in a holster under your clothing, you might have no trouble keeping it safely out of sight when you're out and about — but then make the concerning mistake of letting it be visible when you're using a public restroom. This is one location in which it's especially important to be cognizant of concealment. For example, you don't want to loosen your pants at the urinal, only for your appendix holster to somehow slip off your person and fall to the floor. Should you carry a concealed firearm when you're out in public, here are some tips for managing it in public restrooms.

Use The Stall Whenever Possible

Many men shy away from using a toilet stall when they need to urinate, preferring instead to approach one of the restroom's urinals. Unfortunately, this is a spot in which you may allow your concealed firearm to be visible. For example, if you have a long shirttail that covers the pistol in its holster at the small of your back, you might hike the shirt up just long enough for someone else to see the firearm. When you're in a stall with the door closed, you have a heightened degree of privacy in this regard and can ensure that your holstered firearm is carefully concealed after you finish your business and leave the stall.

Isolate Yourself

If you prefer not to use a restroom stall or they're all occupied, and you need to use a urinal, try to assess the situation. If you're carrying your weapon in a holster on either hip, you ideally want to position yourself at a urinal so that the weapon is next to the wall, rather than next to another person. For example, if you have your pistol on your right hip, choosing the urinal at the far right will keep it away from other urinal users and reduce the likelihood of someone bumping into it while standing next to you, which is possible in cramped restrooms.

Be Careful Drying Your Hands

It's possible to accidentally reveal your firearm when you're drying your hands. After washing them, you may notice that the restroom is out of paper towels or there's a long lineup of people at the hand dryer. Sometimes, you'll instinctively wipe your hands on your shirttail, which you may accidentally raise it just enough to show your holstered weapon. Should you plan to wipe your hands in this manner, be careful about doing so.
