Understanding Recreational Programs

When it comes to enjoying your free time, I have never been an expert. I have always found it hard to keep up with different ways to enjoy my time away from work, but about a year ago I realized that there were a lot of resources close to home that I could take advantage of. It was incredible to see how much my local recreation center offered, along with how many motor sports businesses were in close proximity to my home. This blog is all about understanding recreational programs, signing up for the best ones, and saving a lot of time and money along the way.

Golf Courses In Scotland, And Why You Must Play Them

If you absolutely love playing golf, you need to go to the birthplace of this sport. There is little that is more uniquely Scottish than golf. They invented it, they mastered it, and their country is covered in golf courses. Here is more on golf courses in Scotland, and why you must play them

In Golf Country, Where Do People Live?

That is a very relevant question when it comes to Scotland. This nation can fit within the boundaries of two Midwestern states, yet somehow has over a thousand golf courses! When you stop to consider that its land mass is just a little over thirty thousand square miles and that most golf courses are about two to eight square miles each, it becomes difficult to imagine where all of those golf courses fit with the population of almost five-and-one-half million people!

Price to Play

Just like in the U.S., you have to pay to play. Some courses are closed to the public. You can only play there if you apply and pay for a club membership, which is never cheap. The rest of the courses charge their own rates, and you have to book tee times anywhere from a week to a month in advance.

Why You Must Play Golf in Scotland

No true golfer can proudly claim that he/she loves golf until he/she has played at least one game of golf in Scotland. There are so many golf tourist sports packages, too, that provide you with unique golfing experiences, incredible views of famous and picturesque golf greens, and bragging rights if you play against a Scot and win. You will also learn the original Scottish rules of the game, which are in contrast with American rules. Walking so much of Scotland's golf lands is a thrill for golfers. There are even "holy pilgrimages" to famous locations in the history of golf that no golfer should ever skip or miss.

What Are You Waiting For?

Instead of daydreaming about golf in Scotland, you should update your passport and go. Better still, go during some of Scotland's golf championship series and seasons. Then you might get a chance to meet some famous Scottish golfers, or take in a game after you have played eighteen holes yourself.  Do some digging, discover which courses you want most to play, book your flight and lodgings, and take a fellow golfing buddy with you.
